Abstract photos from cameras tossed in the air

Peter Skarpetis | October 16, 2005 | 9:46 am

Saw this on a recent Boing Boing post:

camera toss

This Flickr group is for people who create striking abstract photos by setting their cameras for long exposures and then tossing them in the air. Link

gps and digital photos

Peter Skarpetis | October 1, 2005 | 9:47 am

I finally got around to experimenting with embedding GPS data into photographs from my digital camera. Using a Magellan SporTrak Pro
GPS, a Sony DSC-V1 digital camera and GPS Photo Linker software I was able to embed GPS positional data into my photos. The process involves synchronising the clocks on the GPS and camera and then simply having the GPS on while taking pictures. GS Photo Linker then downloads the track from your GPS and calculates the location at which each photo was taken.

Here is a photo of Sydney Luna Park and the Milson’s point swimming pool taken from the Sydney Harbour Bridge cycleway on August 31, 2005 while cycling home. If you download the photo and open it up in iPhoto or Preview an look at its info you will see my precise location at the time the photo was taken.
