Australia gets do not call register

In an effort to reduce calls from tele-marketers, the Australian government has finally setup a donotcall register similar to the one already run by the US government . Simply go to www.donotcall.gov.au and register your phone number.

Portugal Opens 11-MW Solar Power Plant

I wish Australia was doing something like this.

Portugal steps up its efforts to increase the usage of renewable energy

Portugal is doing its part to invest in renewable energy with the dedication of a new 11-megawatt (MW) solar plant. The plant, which is located in Serpa, is one of the largest solar arrays in the world and can supply enough electricity for 8,000 households.

The solar plant was built by Catavento, a Portuguese renewable energy company and California based PowerLight Corporation, a GE Energy Financial Services subsidiary. It occupies roughly 150 acres in Portugal’s Alentejo region and contains over 52,000 photovoltaic modules manufactured by Sanyo, Sharp, SunPower and Suntech. Read more

politicians in Australia will do anything for votes

The Australian Labour party thinks it can win the election by building its on broadband network. Read the full story on whirlpool.net.au.

If that was not enough, Telstra has been sending out pamphlets to al its customers complaining about how the government will not let them build a broadband network. Get with the times, we’ve all had ADSL2 in Australia for ages, everyone that is apart from Telstra.
